A banner displayed during the Licensing Expo confirmed that the Free Fire anime will arrive in 2027, the year the game celebrates its 10th anniversary. This information was shared by Wilson Chang, Garena's global executive for licensing and partnerships, in a post on LinkedIn.

The confirmation reinforces the date already disclosed in the official teaser and now directly links the release to the game's anniversary. This comes as Garena continues to expand Free Fire's collaborations with popular anime — the difference this time is that the game itself is becoming an animated production.

Where the confirmation came from

The banner features the Garena logo and appears in a video posted by Wilson Chang, responsible for global licensing and partnerships for Free Fire, during his participation in the Licensing Expo. The piece features the text "10th Anniversary — Coming in 2027" alongside the anime art, confirming the release year directly from an executive of the company.

Free Fire Mania had already reported the initial announcement of the anime, titled Free Fire – The Animation, and later detailed the first official trailer, released in partnership with Kadokawa. Now, the banner from the Licensing Expo is the first time Garena has publicly associated the release with the game's 10th anniversary.

What we already know about the anime

The production brings together Garena and Kadokawa, directed by Ken Takahashi and animated by the Candy Box studio, known for works like Blue Period. The soundtrack is composed by Sus4 Inc. The teaser released shows Kelly, one of the game's most popular characters, facing challenges in a setting where calmness hides dangers.

The distribution will be global via streaming, but Garena has not yet announced on which platforms the anime will be available.

Free Fire has collaborated with several anime — but has never become one

Over the years, Free Fire has amassed an extensive list of partnerships with anime. The first was with One Punch Man, in December 2020, bringing Saitama and Genos into the game. Then came Demon Slayer, launched during Booyah Day 2023, and Blue Lock, in November 2024, the only global collaboration that year.

In January 2025, the game received Naruto Shippuden, called by Garena the greatest anime collaboration in Free Fire's history, with part of the map transformed into the Leaf Village. A second part of the partnership arrived in July of the same year, focused on the Akatsuki characters. More recently, Jujutsu Kaisen debuted in the game in January 2026, and Garena also confirmed a collaboration with Gintama for the OB53 update.

In all these partnerships, however, Free Fire has always been the "guest," incorporating skins and items from already existing anime universes. With its own anime, this logic is reversed: for the first time, Free Fire is lending its universe, characters, and story to become an animated production — something unprecedented among the most popular mobile battle royales in the world.

What has not yet been confirmed

Garena has not disclosed the month, quarter, or exact premiere date within 2027. There is also no confirmation regarding the number of episodes or which characters besides Kelly will appear in the plot. Until this information is officially announced, any month prediction or plot detail should be treated as speculation.

Announcement comes during the game’s 9th anniversary

The banner confirmation comes as Free Fire is still celebrating its 9th anniversary, a period during which Garena launched the OB54 update. The proximity between the two events reinforces that the company is leveraging the anniversary cycle to build anticipation around the anime ahead of the significant date in 2027.

For now, what players can do is follow Garena's official channels for confirmation of the exact date. To better understand the context, check out the latest Free Fire news and the Free Fire Mania guides.
