Players of Free Fire on old iPhones need to be aware now. Garena has confirmed that starting from the OB54 update, the minimum iOS required to launch the game will be raised to version 13 — and models like iPhone 5s, 6, and 6 Plus simply do not support this system.
In practice, this means that those on these devices or still on iOS 12 run the risk of being unable to enter Free Fire once the update arrives. The notice was published by the official profile freefirebr_oficial on Instagram on June 8, and it surprised part of the community.
The change in the minimum operating system version for Free Fire, announced by Garena for OB54, is the type of update that cannot be ignored: it determines whether the game opens or not on your device from now on.
What exactly changes in Free Fire
Garena has confirmed that with the arrival of OB54, scheduled for June 24, the app will require iOS 13 or higher to function. Those on older versions of the system will need to update their iPhone — and those who have a device that no longer receives iOS updates will have no option but to stop playing on it.
- Minimum iOS after OB54: iOS 13
- Devices without support: iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus
- Update date: June 24, 2026
- Who needs to act: players on iOS 12 or lower, or on these three iPhone models
Why is Garena making this change
According to the official statement, the requirement for a more recent iOS is to ensure that Free Fire continues to function properly as Apple releases new versions of the system. It is basically Garena cutting support for outdated operating systems before they start causing crashes, bugs, or login failures in the game.
How not to lose your account if you're changing phones
If you are on this list of unsupported devices and already know that you will be changing your iPhone, the official recommendation is simple: link your account and register a recovery email before making the switch. Without this, depending on how the account was created, there is a real risk of not being able to recover progress afterwards.
Who doesn't need to worry
If your iPhone is already on iOS 13 or a newer version, nothing changes in practice — you will continue to play normally after the update. The requirement only affects those with outdated systems or one of the three models mentioned by Garena.
While OB54 isn't officially here yet, it's worth taking the opportunity to redeem active FF codes now and review the ideal sensitivity for Free Fire before the meta changes that the update is expected to bring.
