Anyone entering a Free Fire match now encounters a fixed limit for character movement speed. The change directly targets those using speed hacks to move faster than normal during confrontations.
The restriction applies to any form of speed gain, including skill bonuses, items, and event effects, and is already active based on tests conducted by the Free Fire Mania team this Monday (20).
Where the confirmation of the change came from
Free Fire Mania has verified, based on an official channel from Garena, that the maximum speed limit is already active in the game. The confirmation appeared in a publication by the developer itself on social media, showing side by side the movement of a character before and after the change.
In addition to the official publication, the Free Fire Mania team tested in-game movement and confirmed that the speed cap is already in effect in matches.
What changes for Free Fire players
In practice, characters that gain speed bonuses — whether through skills, items, or event effects — can no longer exceed a maximum movement cap. A visual effect appears when this limit is reached, signaling that the character has hit the highest allowed speed.
This directly reduces the advantage of those using speed hacks in Free Fire, one of the oldest and hardest types of cheats to neutralize through manual detection alone, as the hack was visually evident but still provided a time advantage before any punishment.
Why this type of hack was a problem
The speed hack allowed characters to move at a speed far above normal, making it difficult for other players to land shots or react in time. With the speed cap now applied directly on the server, the advantage gained from this type of cheat is significantly reduced, even if the player still manages to run the hack.
Garena limited the maximum movement speed in Free Fire this Monday (20), reducing the advantage of those using speed hacks and making confrontations more balanced.
What hasn't been confirmed yet
Garena has not yet published patch notes detailing this change specifically, so it's not possible to pinpoint all the technical parameters of the new limit, such as the exact value of the speed cap. The Free Fire Mania team continues to monitor official channels to update the article if Garena releases more details.
For now, what can already be observed within the game is the speed cap functioning in normal matches. For those who have already faced frustration with players using movement hacks, this is a change to watch for in upcoming matches.
