The update Halloween Candy Rush arrived in Free Fire on October 16, 2018 with a Halloween theme, changes to the Bermuda and Purgatory maps, the addition of the character Caroline, emotes, and improvements to guilds, the store, and Fire Pass.

According to an official statement from Garena, players needed to update the app via the App Store or Google Play to access the new content.

Halloween Update Arrived in Free Fire

This information was shared by Garena on the international Free Fire website, in an official post titled HALLOWEEN CANDY RUSH.

This update is part of the early period of Free Fire, when official notes were still published as general updates and did not always follow the current OB naming standard used by players.

Halloween Candy Rush marked the arrival of Caroline, emotes, and a Halloween-themed environment in Free Fire.

Bermuda and Purgatory Got a Halloween Theme

The first highlight of the update was the visual change in the Bermuda and Purgatory maps. Garena added pumpkin lanterns, scarecrows, and other Halloween-themed elements to both maps.

The goal was to transform the visual experience of the matches during the thematic period without altering the main foundation of the battle royale.

Waiting Island Gained Night Mode and Zombies

The waiting island also received updates. According to Garena, the night mode arrived at the location where players waited for the match to start.

Additionally, zombies started appearing on the waiting island to annoy players before the airplane took off.

  • Location: waiting island;
  • New Feature: night mode;
  • Thematic Element: zombies before the match;
  • Objective: enhance the Halloween atmosphere.

Caroline Arrived as a New Character

The update also added Caroline to the roster of characters in Free Fire. At the time, the game was still expanding its classic character base, each with a simple skill proposition.

Caroline would become one of the most remembered old characters by players who witnessed the growth of Free Fire in 2018.

Emotes Were Added to the Game

Another important aspect was the arrival of emotes. Garena announced that they could now be purchased, equipped, and used on both the waiting island and during matches.

This system would become an important part of customization in Free Fire, especially for interaction between players before and after confrontations.

Weapons, Store, and Custom Rooms Received Adjustments

Garena also updated the models of the M249 and M60 weapons. Additionally, eliminations made with legendary weapon skins began to display a special announcement during the match.

Custom rooms were also mentioned in the statement. According to Garena, the opening of custom rooms from mobile devices would be made available to all users over the following weeks.

  • M249 and M60 models updated;
  • Special announcement upon eliminating players with legendary skins;
  • Smoother animations in the lobby for characters holding weapons;
  • Gradual release of custom rooms via mobile;
  • Revamped store with new tabs and categories.

Guilds and Fire Pass Gained New Features

Guilds also received improvements. The update added check-in rewards for all guilds, with prizes varying according to the group's level.

A shortcut was also created to quickly invite guild friends to form a squad. In the Fire Pass, Garena revamped the upgrade interface and added regional rankings for emblems.

Why Was Halloween Candy Rush Important?

Halloween Candy Rush was important because it combined a seasonal event, customization, and social improvements into a single update. The Halloween theme changed the appearance of the maps and the interface, while emotes, guilds, and the store reinforced the construction of identity within the game.

The arrival of Caroline and the expansion of systems like Fire Pass and custom rooms show how Free Fire was evolving from a simple battle royale into a platform with more progression, events, and interaction between players.
