Those using Nero thinking that the nerf from OB53 solved everything might be living in the last days of their advantage. A source from within Garena confirmed to Free Fire Mania that the character is set to be nerfed again — and this time the target includes Labubu directly, the little creature that players have affectionately nicknamed and which has caused headaches in matches.
The first nerf occurred on April 8, 2026, in the OB53 update. But it seems that it was not sufficient.
Why is Nero still too strong?
Nero's Mente Gélida skill launches Labubu — a creature with 150 Health that lasts 12 seconds, flies up to 50m (100m in Battle Royale mode), chases the nearest enemy, and explodes, creating an 8m radius zone.
Within this zone, no one can use Gel Walls. Opponents also lose 14 Health per second while inside it.
In the justification for the first nerf, Garena itself admitted that the problem was twofold: Nero blocked enemy mobility and dealt high damage simultaneously. According to the company, this left opponents at a significant disadvantage even when they reacted quickly.
What the source said about the second nerf
According to the source heard by Free Fire Mania, Garena's internal assessment is that the OB53 adjustment was insufficient. Labubu still combines area control with damage pressure in a way that few characters can respond to.
No date has been confirmed for the next nerf, but indications suggest it will come before the next major update.
The next Free Fire update is scheduled for June 24, 2026 — and it is in this update that the new nerf for Nero is expected, if Garena maintains the pace of recent OBs.
What was changed in Nero in OB53
- Zone damage per second was reduced
- Range of Gel Wall blocking was adjusted
- The creature (Labubu) maintained 150 Health and a duration of 12 seconds
What players should do now
If you are using Nero as your main character, take advantage of the moment. The skill is still within a considerable power window, especially in Battle Royale, where Labubu can reach 100m.
If you frequently face Nero in matches, the best response remains to destroy Labubu before it reaches — the creature has only 150 Health and can be eliminated with a few direct shots.
Nero's second nerf in Free Fire, expected in an update following OB53, is likely to further reduce the damage of the zone created by Labubu's explosion and possibly limit the Gel Wall blocking radius, according to an investigation by Free Fire Mania with a source close to Garena.
