Garena has implemented an emergency nerf to the Kugisaki Hammer just 24 hours after the official release of the item in Free Fire. The weapon arrived in the game with the special update from the partnership with Jujutsu Kaisen, launched on the 14th, and quickly became one of the most discussed aspects of the update.
The speed of the adjustment indicates that the item exceeded the expected balance shortly after its release, dominating engagements and altering the game's meta.
How the Kugisaki Hammer Works in Free Fire
The Kugisaki Hammer is a primary weapon with unlimited ammunition, based on the use of Cursed Energy. To use it, players need to invest energy to unlock and evolve the weapon during matches.
- Hammer Lv. 1: unlocked by spending 50 Cursed Energy
- Hammer Lv. 2: evolution requires an additional 50 Cursed Energy
- Hammer Lv. 3: final evolution costs 100 Cursed Energy
In practice, this system allowed players who quickly accumuluted energy to reach the maximum level of the weapon in the middle of the match, creating a significant advantage in direct confrontations.
Why the Hammer Became a Target for Criticism

Since the early hours of the update, the Kugisaki Hammer began to determine confrontations with extreme ease, especially in close-range battles. The combination of unlimited ammunition, high damage, and rapid leveling reduced opponents' reaction time.
Players reported that upon reaching the highest levels, the weapon became dominant even against well-positioned or equipped enemies.
What Changed with the Nerf Implemented by Garena
With the emergency adjustment, the Kugisaki Hammer received direct reductions in its main attributes:
- Damage reduced by 15%
- Damage to extremities reduced by 25%
- Effective capacity reduced from 12 to 5
The changes apply to all versions of the item (Lv. 1, Lv. 2, and Lv. 3) and aim to diminish the immediate impact of the weapon in matches.
Record-Time Nerf Highlights Garena's Attention
The adjustment made just one day after the item’s debut draws attention for its speed. In previous updates, changes of this nature typically took longer to implement.
As a result, the Jujutsu Kaisen update remains under observation, and the community is now waiting to see if other skills or weapons from the partnership will also undergo adjustments in the coming weeks.
