The OB54 update of Free Fire, scheduled for June 24, 2026, will add a new mechanic for reviving allies: from this update onwards, it will be possible to bring a teammate back directly from the loot box left at the spot where they were eliminated. This information was confirmed by Garena in an official briefing sent to partners of the Free Fire Content Partner (FFCP) program.
This change makes the revival process faster and opens new tactical possibilities for teams that know how to seize the right moment.
How the new mechanic will work
When an ally is eliminated, the loot box they leave on the ground — where their items usually are — will also have the option to revive them. The player who interacts with this box will be able to trigger the return of their teammate without needing to move to a specific point on the map or rely on an item bought from a vending machine.
Garena has not yet disclosed details such as activation time, usage conditions, or whether there will be any limitations per match. This information should become available when the OB54 arrives on the Free Fire Advanced Server, where players can test the mechanic before the official launch.
All ways to revive allies in Free Fire today
Before OB54 arrives, Free Fire already has three ways to bring teammates back during matches. Each has its own conditions and ideal moments for use.
Revival Points (Return Zones)
These are areas marked on the map with a blue indicator. To revive an ally using this method, a player needs to stay within the zone for a few seconds. The process is free, but it requires the team to position themselves in a fixed and visible location — which can be risky in moments of pressure.
Revival Card in Vending Machines
During matches, it is possible to buy the Revival Card using FF Tokens collected throughout the map from the vending machines scattered across the environment. With the card in hand, the player can activate the return of their ally more flexibly, without depending on a fixed point on the map.
Dimitri's Ability
The Dimitri is the character with the most well-known revival ability in Free Fire. His active ability creates a recovery zone around him: fallen allies within this area can self-revive without needing assistance from another player. The Dimitri's ability also works in solo mode, allowing the player to revive themselves — a unique feature among the game's characters.
What changes with the new mechanic in OB54
With the loot box also becoming a revival point, the team gains another option to react quickly after an elimination. The main advantage is that the box is already at the location where the ally fell — there is no need to rush to a specific zone or have purchased an item beforehand.
For teams that play aggressively, this could change the rotation dynamics: reviving amidst the heat of battle becomes a more accessible possibility than the current methods allow.
OB54 of Free Fire adds a fourth way to revive allies — through the loot box of the eliminated teammate — making revival faster and opening new tactical options for teams in matches, according to Garena's official briefing for FFCP partners.
What to watch for before the launch
The complete details of the mechanic — activation time, limitations, and interaction with existing methods — should be revealed on the Advanced Server of OB54. Keep an eye on the Free Fire update page and the latest news from Free Fire Mania to know as soon as testing begins.
